Delete Discussion I need help esp. from those of you who live in the 'down under' or have visited there. My mom is teaching an adult VBS (a week long Bible study) with the theme being traveling on a train through various parts of Australia.

What I need is some decorating ideas that are not too expensive (ideas dealing either with trains/train stations in Australia or just Australia itself). Stephen and I have thought of the idea of setting up a side of the room to look like a train station but don't know if stations look different in Australia or even if that is a possibility. I will get a map of Australia to display but beyond that, am not sure. So ANY help/ideas would be appreciated.

Also she is interested in knowing if there is any candy or 'treats' that are native to Australia that she might serve her class. Thanks in advance for any input you can give me.

very cool...
what would be a mid point from australia/new zealand and midwest/southeast? I'm thinking it would be somewhere in the south west..maybe new mexico???but i'd have to look at a map/globe. Just thought it would be an interesting fact. I hope this finds everyone doing ok today and excited about weekend. I am.

THANKS to all for the ideas. Since the theme is around a train, we are doing a Whistle Stop Cafe theme..complete with pics of various places/things in Australia on the wall, a map, newspaper clippings of the 2000 Olympics, table cloths, coasters, foods, coffe/drinks, postcards, etc....I think in the end it's going to look great and my mom will be very pleased. Oh yeah, I also got eucalyptus leaves to put in vase, and I'm going to make my own 'gum tree' for a kookaburra :-) Yeah, I'm going to take branches, make a tree, add gum (yep real gum--how fun) and a 'kookaburra'. I use to LOVE that song as a child. Anyway..again..thanks.
