Here's my official New Zealand top 12 (couldn't chop 2) best songs : I'd add Crowded House to this list in a flash, but they're more Australasian than NZ only :

(in no particular order)

Here's two songs by the NZ band, 'Goodshirt'. The first is called 'Sophie' - a song obviously about a lady named Sophie - catchy tune, but also I think Sophie's a bit of alright aswell :

Another by the same band, 'Fiji baby' - a calm song written prior to the current woes of the country in question (poor buggers, hope they string that dictator up) :

and one more by the same band, 'Buck it up' (slang term meaning getting ur a into g) - goodncatchy.

Here are two more : 'Harmonic Generator' by the Datsuns, has a real simple but effective powerchord intro which I love : when I see the lead singer, I dunno what it is, but the way he carries himself and sounds, reminds me a little of Ozzie Osbourne (queue universal confused grunts) :

here's a slightly softer tune from a female artist, Anika Moa (who It's just recently dawned on me is really quite pretty) - nice song this one, 'Dreams in my head' :

Here are the band 'Head Like a hole' doing 2 songs - the first is a cover of the Bruce Springsteen song, 'Im On Fire', while the second is, 'Comfortably Shagged' - which is an original :

Here are two by a newer band, 'The Valves' - who I was stunned to learn are a kiwi band (they sound so American to me) - but, I hear the awful NZ accent before the first song, 'Light it Up', and the 2nd song, 'Walking in the Rain' is just brilliant...like the 1st one also is....

*NOTE* The following is *not* pornographic, but does contain suggestive images - so if there are younger viewers around.......well, might wanna usher them out of the room.

(it's really not that bad, but I gotta say the above) - I normally *hate* techno/dance music as much as I despise R&B and other more wooftery forms of music (and I use this term lightly for rhythm and blues music, I love blues music but somewhere along the line those blues musicians drank too much moonshine and we ended up with...........I don't even wanna type it in) - anyhu, this is the Kids of 88 singing their hit 'My House' which I think has an unbelievable video and, given the virtually non existent likelihood of negatively influenced youngsters ever becoming a member of the NZ site, here it is (if you want me to remove this video, Stephen, just ask or feel free to do so yourself without worry about my reacting badly - I actually genuinely like this song, its video is simply an added bonus.

Aaah....more Brooke Fraser. I tell ya, if I was a hunky man with rippling muscles, just won lotto and had some form of stimulating personality, I'd go after her for a date - oh, gotta have a nice car aswell, and share her interests, play guitar - oh, wait, I can do that one (kind of).......ahhhhhhh Brooke....*ahem* here's a nice song with religious implications which I just discovered off her album, 'Albertine', called, 'Hymn' - I like it, and it makes me think of this site in some way. I've omitted images of the luscious lady in this Youtube vid, but I'll probably find something else soonish.
