Hello Ann, I was visiting my daughter in North Carolina for awhile. It is beautiful there. So many pine trees. Katie lives by herself for now , her husband is in Afganistan for one year. It is a hard life being without your husband for that long.
And it is doubly hard for her because she just got married before Rhyan left for Afganistan.Katie lives in a cosey house near Fort Brag airbase with her two dogs. She has a Lab mix and a germane sheppard to keep her company during the day. I
Hello Anne,I got E when I was 12 years old,I also was in a comma for approximately 10 day's and I also lost all use of my body,I was in a recovery hospital for approximately one year learning how to walk and to function in the real world.I also lost the control of my body and could not walk etc,I also had speech therapy. How bad is your daughter?
It takes such a long time to recover.. I have every confidence that your daughter will walk and talk again..it just takes time. Cathy (here on SP) had 'e' when she was 11 and now is married with children/grandchildren...there are others with similar stories. There will probably always be a few problems such a short term memory loss, fatigue, headaches,...but she'll do better with therapy. How old is she?
Stephen is doing okay...he takes his meds, and deals with one day at a time. The fatigue and pain (nerve pain) is the worse for him..plus heat drains him and it's been hot here. I will be praying for you and your daughter..but DON'T GIVE UP...she will get better..
Hi,I was hospitalized for close to one year with E but I also had therapy to teach me things like walking social activities and I would imagine hygiene.I had very long hair while I was in the hospital and my father had it cut really short because of the thrashing of my head and I would not let people comb my hair so it was knotted .The nurves in my head were very sensitive as in my whole body ,to this day I don't like to be touched to much. I was crippled for awhile , couldn't be that long because I know I was walking when I was discharged but still needed help steading my body and the weakness in my legs, but at my fathers house there was a swimming pool up the street and I spent countless hours at the pool swimming, little did I know how it was helping me by straightening my legs and all along all I could think of was the boy's at the pool. I would go for long walks, sometimes with my father. I would think that your daughter can walk but it will take a lot from you to work with her. I would have cramps in my right leg and remember my father rubbing the cramp out of my leg. Dad would take me to the big mall in ElPaso Texas and we would walk and walk looking in store windows. So I think that what ever it takes to get your girl walking do it.I can tell she is precious already.
