Hi,
I like that name.
Stephen is more bothered by heat--it saps his energy. It has to be really, really cold to bother Stephen. But as far as I can tell, 'e' tends to leave survivors intolerate of one or the other...meaning it's a very common sympton. I am very cold natured, so obviously Stephen and I clash at times LOL.
Did you take pics of the snow? I do love snow and we rarely get any here--on my page I put up pics of our snow we got a couple weeks ago
a puppy? How wonderful. What's his name? I can't wait to see the pics. Let me know when they are up?
We are paying for our house--still have a payments, so we are worried...just keeping on praying and believeing for miracles.
Hi Mandy,
We are okay---truly just trying not to give into despair and depression--just really, really need a job and are prayiing about that. Need at least direction from God. Anyway, enough of that...how are you? Has the pain eased? Stephen is trying a new med (a anti Parkinson's med) that seems to be helping with some motivation stuff...Let me know how you are . Hugs,
Hi Mandy, I'll tell Stephen about the acupuncture. Stephen is ok--we are so worried about finances but are trying to keep our eyes and hearts on God. Stephen has been neuro psych testing (over 12 hours) and has seen a different neurologist (who ordered a new MRI). We are hoping to learn more about dealing with things post 'e'. Will let you know when we do
Thanks Mandy, Once I sort things out, I'll take you up on that offer to talk.
How are you doing? Feeling any better now that you've tried acupuncture? I know it was wierd having needles in you but I've read good things about acupuncture for people with pain. I'm interested in knowing if it is helping you. Hugs,
Good for you..you are getting on with life.
Stephen, like you, has to pace himself and hasn't been able to lately with all we've had going on..so he's had major headaches and nerve pain lately. I'm hoping things slow down a little soon.
You've been a bit off lately, you say? If I may ask, is it just a cold or something more encephalitis related?
I've been actually doing alright - pardon my harping on about this, but the southern hemisphere summer is coming and my symptoms reduce further when it does, while this winter hasn't been so bad. I'm actually considering taking up study in the area of subediting (proofreading), as it won't require me to sell anything to anyone in the future, just me and a book to edit - comfortable and less problematic : perfect, I reckon.
How's your summer been? Let me know what you've been up to, I'm always keen to chat,
I hope you celebrated your one year post 'e' anniversary. It is a true blessing to be alive and moving on despite all the hardships. I'm proud of how courageous you've been, and your willingness to share your journey with us.
How are you feeling nowadays?
Yeah, Stephen said his is burning, stinging, tingling and sometimes stabbing..Lyrica takes the edge off but he's pretty much consistantly in pain. Stephen's headaches have lessened some, so hopefully yours will too. But when he does get them, they are bad.
Can't wait to see pics of your chickens. ...How cool I think you'll enjoy them. My dad loves his chickens and I enjoy them when we are there.
His nerve pain is mostly in his left side/left arm. But it can be other other places and it does hurt other places as well..anywhere there are nerves. Difficult to deal with at times, huh? Lyrica helps him but is too expensive for us to get here.
Wow, That's exactly how it is with Stephen..if he overdoes or exercises too much, he had bigtime nerve pain and worse headaches. He says you are the first person he's heard say that. so it is bad that is how it is for you, but good to know it's not just him or you. You need not to feel badly about what you can't do, but learn to pace yourself and learn your limitations and focus on what you can do.
I am glad you got to ride again..that always makes me smile.
It has been hot here, but cooler today (in the 80's) but that is still too hot for Stephen...feels good to me.
Keep in touch, okay?
Hi Mandy,
Good for you that you're contemplating getting into exercise. You asked about how long it was before I got into it myself, which I'll interrpret as meaning self motivated exercise rather than stuff in the hospital : I fell sick in June of 2005, and began using my home equipment at 8 minutes a day in October (a rowing machine). I then joined a gym in May of 2006 and haven't looked back since - simply the best decision I ever made.
The truth is that there is no level of health to be obtained in order to begin exercising : there's only overdoing it to watch out for, and that's what personal trainers and physiotherapists are for : to ensure that you're doing the perfect routine for where you are in recovery.
If you can ride a horse after encephalitis (and that, to me, is incredible) then you'll have no difficulties in exercise, just know where your limits are and what tends to manufacture the presentation of your symptoms, use machinery which will help your body adapt to successfully doing whatever that is, and raise things gradually from there.
I would assume that your feeling sick while riding a horse, as you mention, is likely due to a disruption in the vestibular nerve of your brain, which in my limited understanding, is the part of the brain which regulates and maintains balance - like a compass in the body, if you will.
This issue is, I believe, due to blood circulation and is exascerbated by tension or pain (possibly like what you mention with nerve pain). I wont rabbit on more when I may have misunderstood you, but I've dealt with dizziness and spontaneously feeling queezy since falling ill, and it's now almost gone : a large part of it is regaining self confidence, and you do that by empowering yourself with the personal belief that what you want to do, you can - being nervous or unsure only compounds this symptom, I've found.
Do you know what the official name of your sick feeling you get while riding is? Is it presyncopal lightheadedness, by any chance?
